It has been another good week of progress here in Helena and at the Capital. Our Firefighter Health and safety bill is out for co signatures for those who want to co-sponsor with Sen. Nate McConnell (D) Missoula. It will be placed in the “hopper” on Monday and given the appropriate Bill #. It appears that we have some bi-partisan support and are working on obtaining and maintaining our Vote count. The Senate Business and Labor committee has been checked and rechecked for YES votes. The language is sound and finalized.
-We have supported Sen. Thomas (R) Worker Compensation Bill that would cover ALL Volunteers that do not have it already. (this blends nicely with the FFH&S Bill)
-We also supported Community Paramedicine Bill to better serve our taxpayers.
Monday, January 21 at 3pm, both Senate Bills pertaining to Rural Fire authorities (RFA) and Annexation for Class 2 cities by a fire district prior to becoming Class 1 is scheduled (Belgrade).
A draft bill has been started to make penalties for poor driving choices through Emergency Scenes. It is on the radar and believe that it will be supported.
Please take not and keep track of Bills and draft bills online at mtleg.gov.
Thank you again for the support and opportunity to represent you,
Brian Dave Joel
